Download your course files, remediate them with ScholAccess, and re-upload.
Download Your Files
- Open your course and go to Course Admin → Manage Files.
- Check the checkbox at the top to select all files.
- Click the Zip icon in the toolbar. Brightspace packages files into a .zip.
- Select the new .zip file and click Download.
Upload Remediated Files
- Go to Course Admin → Manage Files.
- Navigate to the folder where you want to upload.
- Click Upload and select your remediated files.
- If a file with the same name exists, check Overwrite to replace it in place.
- Links in course Content that point to overwritten files continue to work — no relinking needed.
Tips
- Use Manage Files for file-level replacement, not the Export/Import tool.
- Mac users may see a
__MACOSXfolder when unzipping — safe to delete.
Download Your Files
- In the course left-nav, click Files.
- Press Ctrl+A (or Cmd+A on Mac) to select all files.
- Click the Download icon in the toolbar that appears.
- Canvas packages the selection into a .zip preserving folder structure.
Upload Remediated Files
- In the course left-nav, click Files.
- Navigate to the folder where the original file lives.
- Drag and drop the remediated file into the folder.
- Canvas asks whether to Replace or Skip — choose Replace.
- Module links and page embeds automatically reflect the new version.
Tips
- Canvas has a 2 GB storage limit per course.
- Locked files may not appear in bulk downloads — download them individually.
- Importing the same export package twice duplicates content rather than replacing it.
Download Your Files
- On your course page, click More in the menu bar.
- Choose Download Instructor Files.
- Save the .zip file that downloads.
Upload Remediated Files
- Locate the activity or resource on the course page.
- Click the Edit icon and choose Edit Settings.
- In the file manager, delete the old file and upload the remediated replacement.
- If uploading with the same filename, choose Override when prompted.
- Click Save and return to course.
Tips
- "Download Instructor Files" only captures files you uploaded — not student submissions or external links.
- There's no single "replace all" bulk operation — each File resource must be updated individually.
- For full course migration, use Backup/Restore (.mbz format).
